Groups of no more than six allowed to socialise in Wales
From 26 December, groups of no more than six people will be allowed to meet in pubs, cinemas, and restaurants in Wales, the first minister has said.
Mark Drakeford announced today that licensed premises will have to offer table service only, face masks will have to be worn and contact tracing details collected.
Outdoor events will be limited to 50 people, and 30 people will be allowed indoors. At the moment, this does not apply to life events such as weddings and funerals.
Drakeford said that a "rule of thumb" is for no more than three households to meet at the same time.
"Omicron is here already in Wales, and it is now spreading quickly,"" he said as he moved to reintroduce some Alert Level Two restrictions.
"We are now entering a really serious phase of the pandemic. Wales will reopen after Christmas, but in order to do so safely, we have to do everything we can in order to go on protecting ourselves and taking care of others."
Wales currently has 941 confirmed cases of the Omicron variant.
