Troubleshooting
Difficulty scanning barcodes whilst using the till
- Attempt to scan both manufacturers & software generated barcodes using notepad to help identify if the issue is being caused by our software or their hardware
- Ensure barcode clear/as flat as can be
- If old till (POSSystemTools) is being used, make sure that Enable use of barcode scanner is enabled within the till app's settings
Barcodes in the manual scan, but product barcodes do not
- Try scanning an original manufactured barcode (on product packaging, not a label generated with a DX220)
- Make sure you’re testing this in notepad
- The scanner has been reset to factory defaults using the RESET CONFIGURATION TO DEFAULTS barcode
- Confirm that the barcode type is enabled (from symbologies in the manual)
- Try the scanner in a different USB port
- Try cleaning the lens on the scanner
Scans but inputs barcode incorrectly
- Confirm that SHIFT, CTRL or ALT is not being pressed and that Caps Lock is disabled
- Try scanning an original manufactured barcode (on the product, not a label generated with a DX220)
- Make sure you’re testing this in notepad
- The scanner has been reset to factory defaults using the RESET CONFIGURATION TO DEFAULTS barcode
- Confirmed that the barcode type is enabled (from symbologies)
- Try the scanner in a different USB port
- Try cleaning the lens on the scanner
Unable to scan reset code in manual
- Check that the scanner will NOT scan an original manufactured barcode (on the product, not label)
- Contact Epos Now to see if you need a replacement
No beam coming out of the scanner
- Try the scanner in a different USB port
- Using either the supplied prong or a paper clip, remove the cable from the handset, blow into the connection and re-attach the cable
If the scanner appears to be working yet not reading anything
- Check devices & printers. If it displays an unknown device, try using a different USB port
